Sir Gawain & the Green Knight: Part I - The MedievalText
Monday Aug 02, 2021
Monday Aug 02, 2021
This week we begin our two-part modern medieval journey of the medieval romance poem 'Sir Gawain & the Green Knight' and its legacy by discussing the late medieval (late 14th century) poem itself.
.
Initially we intended our next episode to look at the new David Lowry film 'The Green Knight' and how its modern interpretation compares to the medieval source material, but due to the GB release being pushed back yet further to an undisclosed date, we are unsure when we will be able to release Part II.

Modern Medieval Meets Media-Eval's Sarah Ifft Decker
Monday Mar 22, 2021
Monday Mar 22, 2021
This week's episode features special guest Sarah Ifft Decker, host of Media-eval Podcast, who shares some of her fascinating research about medieval Jewish women's marriages in 13th century Catalonia.
.
Sarah is an Assistant Professor of History at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. As a social historian, Sarah is 'invested in reconstructing and understanding the everyday lived experiences of ordinary people. In particular, I seek to center the experiences of marginalized people in the medieval world, and to explore how gender, social status, and religious identity structured legal and social norms for medieval men and women. My research focuses on the medieval Mediterranean, a region that is both especially fascinating for the study of interfaith contact and conflict and particularly richly documented.'
